Role overview:

We are seeking a Lead Product Engineer with strong experience working across the stack, to join our Product Engineering team.

We're looking for a leader who thrives in varied environments, effortlessly switching between hands-on software development, strategic stakeholder engagement, and effective team management.

This leadership role demands not just versatility but a comprehensive product ownership mindset. You'll be deeply involved in every phase – from requirements gathering, system design and development, through deployment, to ongoing monitoring and long-term support.

You'll be focusing on leading the delivery of a new event driven platform that backs one of the key business processes that sets us aside from competitors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers on the team, to deliver high-quality software on time and within budget.
  • System Design: Design system architecture, ensuring scalability and security.
  • API Design and Development: Develop robust APIs with a strong emphasis on GraphQL.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with the Head of Product Engineering and key business stakeholders.
  • Product Ownership: Translate and prioritise basic requirements into comprehensive, effective solutions to align with business goals and user requirements

  • Strategic Thinker with a Product Mindset: Able to think like both a software developer and a product manager, seamlessly taking business requirements through to implementation.

Must-have skills:

  • Expertise in Typescript or similar strongly typed languages.
  • Experience working with event driven architectures.
  • Experience with both consuming and developing Graphql APIs.
  • Exposure to Containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, IaaC tooling, and Public Cloud platforms.

Desirable skills:

  • Familiarity with schema first database development, especially with Prisma ORM.
  • Familiarity with React or other front end development frameworks.
  • Experience with durable execution platforms.
  • Experience with graph databases and low & no-code tools.
