Role overview:

Vorboss is looking for a driven and proactive individual to take on the position of Nightworks Technician. The role is principally working within the Fibre Build team and will report to the Nightworks Supervisor. You will work with our nightwork teams and subcontractors, helping to install our fibre and subduct, ensuring compliance with our work packages,specifications, and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities:

The Nightworks Technician’s responsibilities will consist of (please note that this is not an exhaustive list):

• Assisting with nightworks cabling teams involved in fibre installation projects to enable network construction involving new build and Vorboss network.

• Test rodding and roping and route proving in congested/complex duct routes, within the carriageway (including safely accessing manholes and confined spaces as required)

• Following civils avoidance best practices

• Installing large diameter subducts (25mm) within carriageway duct routes

• Safe site set-ups in the carriageway, ensuring compliance with Safety at Street Works and Road works best practices and relevant legislation.

• Assisting in blowing high capacity fibre cables

• Ensuring that you and the team always work productively to ensure that targets are achieved.

• To identify any improvements on issues which are raised, and subsequently implement these corrective actions as and when required.

• To be flexible and provide cover for other Supervisors as required.  

The right candidate:

Qualifications and experience:

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, you may be required to drive as part of your job role.

• Confined spaces experience and training

• Excellent knowledge of traffic management requirements with experience working in busy carriageways

• Qualified with NRSWA accreditation.

• PIA experience is beneficial.

• Cable blowing experience (144F or larger) is beneficial

• Experienced in managing telecoms cabling work on external fibre build projects.

Essential interpersonal skills:

• Committed to making the Health and Safety of colleagues and the public the highest priority.

• The ability to read and interpret Vorboss subduct and fibre work packages, with familiarity of Vorboss subduct types, fitting, and installation procedures.

• Fantastic communicator, with the ability to express complex information concisely across the business.

• Ability to think methodically and to oversee and coordinate works across multiple sites.

• A self-starter, someone who is going to harness their natural curiosity to contribute to the process and grow with the company.

• Willing to work nights (8pm-4:30am) with periodic crossover with standard office hours.

• Strong time-management skills and the ability to organise, coordinate and prioritise competing priorities.

• To consistently work with unparalleled attention to detail
