Who are Vorboss:

Vorboss is building London’s next-generation business fibre network. This is a responsibility that we take seriously; we understand that for most businesses, reliable fibre internet is as important as heat, electricity, and water. We want to completely change the fibre network in London (and beyond), and we’re on the hunt for smart, talented people to join us.

At Vorboss, we do the right thing—no matter what. Our unwavering focus on engineering excellence and unrivalled commitment to customer service is trusted by the most important organisations across the UK and Europe in the technology, pharmaceutical, financial, and e-commerce industries.

We’re proud to have earned one of the best reputations in the industry, and it is essential to us that we maintain that reputation as we grow. Our team is tight knit and highly talented. We trust each other to do the right thing, take responsibility, and be a champion for our collective success.

We’re looking for talented, smart people to join us as we embark on this exciting period of growth. Our vision for Vorboss is to be ‘the best job that someone ever had’, regardless of how long they stay with us, and promise to provide a supportive workplace based on respect and trust.

Role overview:

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping and maintaining the infrastructure that empowers all Vorboss software. You will help set the technical vision for our platform: evaluating new tools and frameworks, designing patterns, and establishing guardrails that ensure security and compliance without impeding developer velocity.

Day-to-day, you’ll be balancing hands-on tasks (rolling out cluster upgrades, debugging pod networking issues, or extending a Terraform module) with higher-level strategic planning (road mapping capacity expansion and migrations, identifying single points of failure, or drafting runbooks for critical incident response).

Key responsibilities:

(Please note that this list is not exhaustive)

• Manage and scale Kubernetes clusters (on-prem and hybrid cloud) to ensure high availability, security, and performance.

• Oversee on-premises hardware and networking, partnering closely with our NOC/ops teams to monitor capacity, perform hardware upgrades, and troubleshoot any underlying platform issues.

• Develop and maintain internal platform tooling, automation scripts, and dashboards (e.g., Terraform modules, Helm charts, GitOps pipelines) that drive consistency, repeatability, and visibility across environments.

• Collaborate with Software Engineering, Security, and IT stakeholders to translate high-level requirements into scalable, secure platform components, ensuring compliance with our SLAs and data protection standards.

• Champion a culture of platform reliability and developer empowerment by conducting regular architecture reviews, hosting brown-bag sessions on platform features, and continuously gathering feedback to refine our platform roadmap.

The right candidate:

• 5+ years working in platform or infrastructure engineering roles, with a strong focus on Kubernetes administration (on-prem and cloud), even better if you have experience with Azure.

• Expertise in container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift) and related tooling (Helm, EKS, Operators).

• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar) and CI/CD workflows.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Thanos, or equivalents) to ensure platform reliability.

• Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders (Software Engineering, Security, IT) to ensure platform features align with business requirements and compliance standards.

• Pragmatic problem-solver: you balance competing priorities (speed vs. stability, new features vs. technical debt) to deliver the best outcome.

You may not meet every single desired requirement listed under "the right candidate" section. If your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you thinkyou can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you!
